Dear Brutus, by J M Barrie

Dear Brutus is a 1917 fantasy play by J M Barrie (author of Peter Pan) depicting alternative realities for its characters and their eventual return to real life. The title is a reference to a line from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars but in ourselves” (which is quoted in full by Mr. Purdie near the end).

A Message from the organiser Chris Gill

We have established a tradition of reading a play once a month at the Marine Theatre, which is kindly providing the venue free to support community drama. We have a small group of regular attenders and we are always pleased to welcome new people, whether they want to read or just listen. The selection for October to December has some classics that will surely appeal to the inner thespian of our regular attendees. Please note all the coming readings take place on the second Monday evening of each month. Please remember to bring with you a paper or screen copy of the script if you wish to read.
