The Oyster & Fish House

With decades of experience in events, Mark Hix and his team will create a bespoke menu of the best of seasonal ingredients for your special day. Mark and his Event Manager will meet with you at The Oyster & Fish House or Marine Theatre to discuss the requirements for your wedding and create a menu just for you with locally caught fish and seafood, or perhaps a surf and turf. You can always be assured that Mark’s menus will be created using the best of local produce available and of course vegetarian and vegan guests catered for.

Our wedding menus are served as a sharing-style feast with three sharing starters, followed by the main event with seasonal sides, and large desserts designed to share, adding an extra bit of theatre to your guests’ experience. Choose afew canapes or oysters to start your reception to enjoy with our local sparkling wines from Castlewood vineyard. It’s your day, and we will ensure it’s one to remember.

All our menus are built around the long established, personal relationships that Mark has with his suppliers and use only responsibly produced, carefully sourced and simply served British seasonal ingredients. Working directly with the local fishermen and farmers, the freshest fish and seafood is guaranteed from The Oyster & Fish House and Mark Hix.

Kit and Kee

Kit & Kee is based at Great Trill Farm, near Lyme Regis, where we source produce every morning from the organic market garden. We also rear our own pigs, lambs and chickens on our smallholding on the edge of the Marshwood Vale, and make our own Bottle Farm charcuterie.

Our ethos is all about using the very best ingredients at the peak of the season. We produce a lot ourselves and source the rest from local day boats, farmers and foragers who share our passion for great food. We use cooking techniques from all over the world, cooking over wood fires, smoking, curing and fermenting, but the best local ingredients are at the heart of the events we cater for.

Hugo would love to hear from you and to discuss your event at the Marine Theatre in more detail.

Les Oliviers

Sauvignon/Vermentio, France £22.50

A deliciously refreshing change from straight Sauvignon Blanc.  This wine takes the zesty grapefruit characters of Sauvignon and complements it with the rounded texture of Vermentino.

Colomba Bianca

‘Vitese’ Grillo, Sicily

Grillo is the flagship of Sicily’s indigenous white varieties, with its aromatic and floral nose.  Pleasantly fresh and harmonious, with ripe melon, green apple and mineral flavours, a well-structured palate and a long and elegant finish.

Boutinot ‘Fleur Solitaire’ Rhone

France, £27.50

Proper white Cotes du Rhone; fresh, medium-bodied, vinous. The nose is pretty and delicate, with a waft of fennel tops and hinets of hedgerow flowers. The flavours are nuanced and refined rather than overt. Careful use of oak adds texture and structure without masking the freshness of this very drinkable white.

Les Oliviers

Merlot/Mourvèdre, France

Brightly perfumed fruit, a hint of lavender, then classic Merlot flavours; ripe red summer berries, plums and damsons.  Mourvèdre shows its grip with warm spice and a green, herby edge on the finish

Colomba Bianca ‘Vitese’ Nero D’Avola

A deliciously fresh and vibrant Tempranillo – plenty of delicious, soft, ripe fruit and classic vanilla notes with a lovely long finish.

Boutinot ‘Les Coteaux’ Rhone

Brambly fruit underpinned by subtle oasky nuances, lovely sweet spice – warm star anise with a touch of cinnamon. This classic Cotes du Rhone Villages is enriched with specially-selected parcels from Seguret and Sablet.

Gran Cerdo Red

Lovely cherry colour in the glass, which carries through to the nose along with other red fruit and cassis. Surprisingly juicy and acidic for the grape, this has excellent acidity and a soft, fruity palate. Fresh on the finish, with a bit of length.

Les Oliviers Rosé

A deliciously fresh and vibrant Tempranillo – plenty of delicious, soft, ripe fruit and classic vanilla notes with a lovely long finish.

Favola Prosecco

A fresh, fragrant and fruit Prosecco with aromas of pear and apple.  On the palate it is off-dry and lively with an attractively crisp finish.

Domaine J.Laurens, Blanquette de Limoux ‘Le Moulin’, France

Dominated by Mauzac Blanc grapes, which are native to Limoux, and a small amount of Chardonnay, the finish on this Blanquette is rounded and delicious. Honeyed on the nose with a bright, crisp and delicately nutty palate.

Louis Folléa Brut NV NV Champagne

A fine Champagne, with a beautiful fresh nose of medium intensity with aromas of nectarine, lime, acacia and apricot. This is complemented by toasted bread notes & delicate creaminess on the palate.

Lyme Bay Gold Ale

Bar Top Firkin (Keg)

Lyme Regis

£290 (72 pints) – 4.2%

A subtle blend of Pale malt with Cascade and Bobek hops deliver a fresh, citrusy aroma and sweet initial taste, followed by a light bitter finish.
