Jazz by the Sea – The Fabulous Red Diesel

Sunday 16 November 2025

A refreshing take on jazz and soul that has been lauded by fans and critics alike. Having released their eighth studio album, ‘Goddess the Seahorse’ in 2024, and a new live album in 2025, they are fast becoming one of the most talked about bands on the circuit, with Barbara Streisand/Eartha Kitt style vocals, beautiful original songs, and sublime arrangements. The band opened for The James Taylor Quartet and sold out Upstairs at Ronnie Scott's three times. They have played Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Rye and Sidmouth Jazz Festivals, as well as appearances at Boomtown, Small World, The Green Gathering and Glastonbury.

Their latest album, ‘The Queensbury House Sessions’, recorded live in a disused office block, tiny desk style, got playlisted by Jazz FM, and prompted DJ Deb Grant of BBC6 Music to say ”This band have made it onto my list of bands I intend to see as soon as I physically possibly can.’’

‘’An amazing and original band with excellent musicianship, outstanding arrangements and infectious grooves’’

– Ian Bowden, Sidmouth Jazz Festival

The Fabulous Red Diesel will sweep you off your feet, they are happiest in the middle of the audience, taking them for the ride of their lives, through latin, funk, soul, swing and even a hint of gypsy punk. Fans become friends, and everybody leaves with a smile on their face. May contain tuba.

‘’The audience loved the humour, the lyrics and the sheer musicality’’

– Black Mountain jazz Club
