Repertory or rep theatre is a company that consists of a troupe of dedicated actors who bring a season of plays to a community, and that’s what we’re doing this summer. There used to be a rep theatre in every town in the country, especially in seaside towns, but now they’re very few and far between, and there hasn’t been rep at Lyme Regis since the 60s, as far as we know. Being part of the local community has always been a strong part of the rep tradition, one of the wonderful things about rep that we want to continue, and that’s where you come in.

We’re looking for experienced local amateur actors to work with us on a voluntary basis. We’d love you to come along and have a chat with us, learn about the three plays we’re putting on, and find out how the season will run.

We will be booking informal 20-minute slots to give you an opportunity to come and show us what you can do. Actors will be asked to prepare a short speech and a short piece of dialogue that we’ll give you, both of which you will perform for us on the day, and don’t worry –it will be in a very friendly environment.
