Matt Carter’s Septet was formed during his first year of studying at The Royal Academy of Music. In that time, he has performed at many of the country’s leading jazz venues, and this year will be taking the band into the recording studio to record his debut album.
The Septet first played at Jazz Jurassica four years ago. Driven by the dynamic piano playing of bandleader, Matt Carter, they’re back with freshly minted material featuring high energy swing punctuated by dynamic solos.
The line-up features some of the country’s best young jazz musicians and play a dynamic array of compositions and arrangements of Great American Songbook standards.
Matt’s writing has been compared to Marty Paich, and he is heavily influenced by west coast jazz from the 50’s and 60’s. Expect up-tempo swing and dynamic solos from this young and extremely talented line-up.
