This gripping thriller is a masterclass in suspense, having various characters not quite who they seem, an ingenious plan, a spanner in the works and enough sinister twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat to the very end!

Tennis pro and playboy Tony Wendice and his rich society wife Sheila live in a flat in Maida Vale. He was very successful as a tennis player and travelled the world, with Sheila having to follow him everywhere. Their marriage hit a sticky patch and, rather than risk losing her, he decided to give up tennis and take a job at home, so now they’re very happy together. Or so it seems …

This celebrated murder mystery play was first seen on television before being performed to great acclaim on stage. It inspired the 1954 film adaptation directed by Alfred Hitchcock and staring Ray Milland and Grace Kelly. It was adapted again in 1998 as ‘A Perfect Murder’ starring Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow and David Suchet. Frederick Knott’s other plays are ‘Write Me A Murder’ and ‘Wait until Dark’.
