The Choir
Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir was first formed in 1946 and over the years the number of
members has increased and is presently around seventy choristers. The Choir has gained advances in
quality of performance, maintaining a large and varied repertoire. At the heart of any choir is the
musical team and we are most fortunate to be led by our Musical Director, Nick Thomas, most ably
supported by Mike Wager.
The TDMVC usually performs about ten concerts each year in a wide variety of beautiful locations
and raises money for many charities. For some years we were regulars at the Festival of Brass and
Voices at the Royal Albert Hall and now participate in the biennial Cornwall International Choral
Festival. In 2019 the choir sang at the famous Menin Gate at Ypres and performed at venues in
Rotterdam and at the Oude Kerk in Delft. In April 2023 the choir enjoyed a trip to Ireland to sing at
Cork International Choral Festival. We shall be celebrating our 80 th anniversary next year.
Special Guests
We are delighted to welcome Pete Linnett who is a community choir and workshop leader based in
Lyme Regis and he brings us two of his choirs, Lyme Voices and Meeting Voices from Chard.
Pete is a member of the Natural Voice Network, a network of people who work with voice and song,
and believe that singing is everyone’s birthright, regardless of musical experience or ability.
Pete aims to lead you into the spirit, harmony and rhythm of the music in a simple, clear and fun
way. He teaches entirely by ear. He’s inspired by the music, and by the wonderful way that singing
together can build community and feelings of well-being.
