Children’s ukulele workshops

Ever wanted to play in a band? Did you know that the humble ukulele can be lead guitar, keyboards, rhythm and drums?! Bringing her years of experience of playing professionally in The ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Hester will work with the group on a few simple pieces of music and songs, exploring new and different ways of bringing them to life, through playing together with others as a group. This workshop is for kids from 8-12, both beginners and beyond.

There will be the choice of 1 or 2 sessions, one in the morning 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and one in the afternoon running from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

THE FIRST SESSION HAS BEEN CANCELLED. THE AFTERNOON SLOT WILL RUN AS PLANNED.

Please bring your own ukulele.

Hester Goodman is a professional Ukulele player, singer, songwriter and performer, and long term member of the world renowned Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (UOGB). As a ukulele player and
singer, she has toured and played in many prestigious venues all over the world, including the Royal Albert Hall, Sidney Opera House and Carnegie Hall. She has also performed at festivals such as
Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe, worked on music/writing collaborations, and made copious tv and radio appearances over the past 35 years. As well as touring, Hester has also written and performed her own work. Music writing credits include a solo album of original songs,
‘You could at least Smile’ (2010). In 2017 (having moved to Bridport a few years earlier), she appeared as ‘Madame Celine’ in ‘Flea’ (Bridport’s Ukulele Opera), at The Electric Palace. Hester has a lot of experience of running Ukulele Workshops. In 2006 and 7, she ran a series of Ukulele Ensemble workshops at
Cecil Sharp House in London, and has also done many years of individual, and smaller group teaching.
