Previous experience of acting is not required, but desire and commitment are compulsory. The sessions will be delivered by experienced drama tutor and Northcott team member Lizzie Hedden.
James Redmond headlines a raucous night of four comedians for a bargain ticket price. Redmond is a dry, slick and subtle stand up who delivers unexpected twists and turns during his set as he deconstructs his art. He made his name as a model and actor and is best known for roles in ‘Hollyoaks’, ‘Casualty’, and ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’.
Revisit Ella Fitzgerald classics in our bar overlooking the Cobb Vocalist Julie Dunn has released three albums, playing alongside Johnny Dankworth’s son Alec. She sings a variety of well loved jazz tunes, influenced by the great jazz singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, as well as some of her own compositions. She will be accompanied by Philip Clouts at the piano, and will also be singing some tunes of his to which she has specially added her own words.
A talk by a sound recording expert from Blue Planet II with audio and visual clips, followed by audience questions. Intrepid Explorers, an organisation which shares stories of field research, is bringing Blue Planet II to Dorset through a special talk at the Marine in Lyme Regis. Professor Steve Simpson will share his experience as Series Academic Advisor for the acclaimed series and other David Attenborough documentaries, such as his Great Barrier Reef programme in 2015.

Most people remember Tankus the Henge for its wild showmanship; frontman Jaz Delorean occupies the stage with jagger-esque aplomb, leaping from on top of a smoking piano and launching into the audience like an athlete, whenever the moment takes him. One of the band’s great strengths is its musical agility, that allows Tankus the Henge to incorporate a vast range of genres.

The legendary jazz-funk band is driven by Taylor’s trademark Hammond organ and the band’s relentless rhythms.
This nine-piece mini orchestra brings the infectious rhythms of the Caribbean to an energetic live performance fusing ska, reggae, and jazz. Headlining is authentic Reggae band Fowokan, who are currently touring their new album ‘Shadow of Rasta’. The band was formed by Jamaican-born drummer Sam Kelly, who was also the founder of Cymande, the 70s reggae outfit.
The popular Handlebards theatre company return to Lyme Regis for an outside performance of Shakespeare’s tragedy. The HandleBards are the world’s first cycling theatre company. Before touring their “seriously silly” production of Romeo and Juliet around the world, they pedalled it 1500 miles around the UK by bicycle, with all the necessary set, props and costume in tow.

A jazzy session in our bar overlooking the bay Jesse Molins is a popular jazz guitarist who has evolved his sophisticated style working in the South West and London. As well as leading his own groups he is a regular with the Dave Hankin Big Band and has been described as “a hard swinging jazz guitarist with a style reminiscent of Wes Montgomery”. Treat your father to a delicious brunch made by the ‘Feasting House’ of Ottery St Mary, The Rusty Pig, whilst listening to Californian jazz vocalist Allison Adams-Tucker. Allison is an internationally acclaimed artist and has entertained audiences in Japan, Europe, Mexico, and the US, including performances at the Blue Note in New York, Ronnie Scott’s, and Herb Alpert’s Vibrato in Los Angeles. Allison will be joined by her London jazz quartet for this special event.
Back To The Shack play a heady brew of foot-stomping blues and classic Americana, all performed in their own distinct style. The band features dobro, guitar, accordion, double bass, and vocals, and is led by Julian Phillips and Izi Onslow Julian has played in concerts and festivals in Europe and America and is highly esteemed by his fellow players. As a teacher, Julian has inspired many young people to follow his example (many of them playing at the UK Boogie Woogie Festival, held annually on the first weekend in July), which is a real tribute to his talent, enthusiasm and love of boogie woogie.

The 70s singer, 6Music DJ, and activist plays the classic album Power In The Darkness, alongside other hits. Born in Cambridge in 1950, Tom Robinson first became known in the late 1970s as a musician and LGBT activist with the Tom Robinson Band (TRB) who were early supporters of Rock Against Racism and Amnesty International. In 1977 their Top 5 debut release 2-4-6-8 Motorway became one of the landmark singles of the UK punk era.
