Lyme Youth Theatre is for young people who have a passion for theatre. Professional tutors and directors lead classes and workshops to enable members to learn new skills and perform.
The aim is to introduce members to the best of modern and classical theatre practice and technique. Performance skills are known to boost confidence and self-esteem, and we hope our members will be able to transfer these skills to work done in school, university or vocational drama training. Members can also work on productions Backstage or as an Assistant Director, Producer or Designer. At the Marine we also offer work experience opportunities at the Marine to learn about Producing, Directing, Administration and Marketing.
We are very proud that some of our members have been selected to join the National Youth Theatre, and past members have studied at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford, ALRA, and East 15. A number of our founder members are now theatre professionals – including actors, musicians, and a set and costume designer.
Classes run over three terms from September to July weekly (excluding school holidays) at the Marine Theatre
