A drop-in workshop for all ages of children with a traditional boat-builder and artist
Traditional wooden boat-builder Gail McGarva is holding a drop-in workshop inside the Story Boat where children of all ages can learn about traditional boat-building skills. Children will get the chance to rivet their own miniature plank. The miniature plank which will be taken away as a keepsake of the Story Boat.
The Story Boat project is a miniature maritime memories museum created from an upturned boat in which people’s memories are recorded and preserved.
Traditional wooden boatbuilder Gail McGarva worked in collaboration with local wheelwrights Rowland & Son to give a new lease of life on land to a retired Dorset fishing boat called Vera. She transformed it into enchanting oral history recording and exhibition space.
