COMEDY: Robin Ince | Thursday 19 April

Robin Ince - spring 2017 photo Timothy Ginn

The star of The Infinite Monkey Cage returns brings his first new solo show for three years to Lyme Regis. Expect a hilarious night-out about love, death and art – with a teeny bit of physics. Fizzing with ideas about creativity in science and art, as well as asking why we believe we see, what we see, and why we believe, what we believe.

In 2017 Robin completed a 70 date, record breaking tour with Brian Cox that concluded at the Wembley Arena. The Infinite Monkey Cage remains one of the most popular programmes on BBC Radio 4.

Robin’s new book, I’m a Joke…and So Are You is published in October 2018

Robin is the winner of a Sony Gold and Rose d’Or for the Infinite Monkey Cage and the Time Out Outstanding Contribution to Comedy, as well as The Francis Crick Science Journalism Award and 3 Chortle awards.

“packed six hours of material into two…marvellous” 4 Stars – The Scotsman

James Redmond headlines a raucous night of four comedians for a bargain ticket price.

James

Redmond is a dry, slick and subtle stand up who delivers unexpected twists and turns during his set as he deconstructs his art.

He made his name as a model and actor and is best known for roles in ‘Hollyoaks’, ‘Casualty’, and ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’.

James performs 6 nights a week, all over the U.K. as compere, or with a set of up to 30 minutes and has done over 350 gigs in 2 years, including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, Amused Moose & the comedy festivals of Bristol, Exeter, Guernsey, Hull & Liverpool.

He had a daily, hour-long show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

‘Fresh-off-the-telly James Redmond has the makings of a really good comic. His tales of texting, girlfriends and Barry from Bristol are quality stuff.’- Fringe Magazine.

He’s joined by compere Tom Glover and two other comedians.

COMEDY: Adele Is Younger Than Us | Saturday 12 May

Acclaimed comedy duo Stiff and Kitsch bring their Edinburgh show to Dorset.

S&K Adele 49

Adele Is Younger Than Us is the culmination of years of optimistic frustration wedged into an hour of musical stand-up. Watch as Sally and Rhiannon emerge from the cocoon of long and painful adolescence into the world of womanhood, only to realise they weren’t Adele-like butterflies at all. They were moths. Stiff and Kitsch will take you on a journey through the trials and tribulations of love, with all the heartbreak but none of the Grammys like Adele. You’ve all been there, that shattering realisation that you are not a multi award winning, global record breaking pop superstar – and not only that, but you’re also actually older than Adele.

Join them in their attempt to find a man, fall in love and Set Fire To The Rain*

*Disclaimer: They won’t be able to, they’re not Adele.

COMEDY | LYME REGIS COMEDY CLUB WITH IVO GRAHAM | MONDAY 28 MAY

A Bank Holiday edition of our popular Comedy Club run by Bridport’s funny man Tom Glover; there are four comics on the bill!

Ivo2

With regular appearances on Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo, this is a great chance to see Ivo Graham in a small venue.

Apologetic Eton and Oxford alumnus Ivo started stand-up in 2009 at the age of eighteen and eight months later became the youngest ever winner of the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny award for new acts at the Edinburgh Fringe. Since graduating three years later he has become a regular fixture in the clubs and theatres of the UK circuit, with a gauche charm and crafty, self-aware wit which has proved a hit with audiences of all ages, and led to appearances on multiple TV and radio shows including Comedy Central At The Comedy Store, As Yet Untitled, Live From the BBC and Fighting Talk.

He has also written for various other TV comedy shows, as well as his own sitcom projects in development with Big Talk Productions and the BBC.

His three solo stand-up shows have enjoyed sell-out runs at Edinburgh and London’s Soho Theatre, and he will be returning there and elsewhere to perform his fourth hour in 2017.

As the Evening Standard put it, ‘if you like your comedy with long words and beautiful linguistic flourishes, buy a ticket immediately’.
