COMEDY | RICHARD CARPENTER IS CLOSE TO YOU | FRIDAY 2 NOVEMBER

Matthew Floyd Jones in the sell-out hit parody of Richard Carpenter

In a world where rainy days and Mondays collide, one man’s solitary journey to find himself has only just begun…

The piano player from Frisky & Mannish plays the piano player from The Carpenters in a razor-sharp parody play about a life spent playing the piano.

Richard used to be on top of the world, to the left of (and slightly behind) Karen. Now he’s back with a vengeance, only to find out it’s not exactly yesterday once more anymore.

DISCLAIMER: This Award-Winning Fringe hit show is not endorsed by the real Richard Carpenter.

“Delightfully on the money… This show’s stroke of genius lies in the characterisation of Carpenter… it has the ring of hard truth”
★★★★ The Times

“A uniquely talented performer… meticulously constructed… the bittersweet comedy narrative is priceless”
★★★★ The Stage

“This charming story joyfully waves a flag for those forgotten heroes”
★★★★ The List

“Exceptional… probably the most impressive performance I’ve seen at the Fringe”
★★★★½ Edinburgh Culture Review

“Perfectly rendered parody songs… There is a deep affection at the heart of this… A Superstar”

THEATRE | NOT: LADY CHATTERLEY’S LOVER | SATURDAY 3 NOVEMBER

A laughter-filled parody of the D.H. Lawrence novel

Lady Chatterley welcomes home her husband, Clifford, from a war that has left the world in tatters. With Clifford’s legs also in tatters, he arrives at Wragby Hall confined to a wheelchair and clutching his secret.

As the couple grow apart Constance falls into a passionate, sexual and curiously experimental affair with estate gamekeeper: Mellors.

There will be long contemplative looks into the middle distance, moments of touching drama, plenty of farce and a gentle stroke of innuendo.

‘… a hilarious watch, constantly charming and remains true to the spirit of D.H. Lawrence’s work’  **** Ed Fringe Reviews

THEATRE | WITHERING LOOKS | TUESDAY 6 NOVEMBER

Specially reworked for the 200th anniversary year of Emily’s birth, Britain’s favourite literary lunatics, are back with their cult Brontë spoof  ‘Withering Looks’

The classic comic duo, Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding, just couldn’t resist the urge to dust off their crinolines, wear flattering bonnets and sit at rained-lashed windows in a pale and decorative manner. Don’t miss the chance to share in the silliness too!

Withering Looks takes an “authentic” look at the lives and works of the Brontë sisters – well, two of them actually, Anne’s just popped out for a cup of sugar. Peopled with many of the characters we know and love, Maggie and Sue move effortlessly from frock to frock coat.

Withering Looks won a Manchester Evening News Theatre Award and the Critics’ award for Comedy at the Edinburgh Festival. LipService recently won the Stage Door Foundation award for Excellence.

Jayde Adams, the winner of the 2014 Funny Women award and 2016 nominee for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, headlines a night of four comedians in this great value night out.

‘The audience are on their feet by the end of The Divine Ms Jayde’ ~ The Guardian

After appearances in 8 out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, BBC2’s Gert Lush Christmas with Russell Howard, Sky1’s Sick Note with Nick Frost and Rupert Grint, and Netflix & Channel 5’s Borderline, it’s safe to say that when Dawn French says “Jayde Adams is the 3rd funniest woman in the world. Fact,” she might just be onto something.

Jayde’s debut year was 2016 where she wrote and performed her first hour at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and after storming year collecting 6, 5 star reviews and 3, 4 star reviews she was then nominated as Best Newcomer at the lastminute.com Edinburgh Comedy Awards and at the Chortle Awards, Jayde then performed ’31’ at the West End’s prestigious Soho Theatre, London for 15 dates and it completely sold out!
