THEATRE | MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING | WEDNESDAY 29 MAY

The world’s first cycling theatre company, The HandleBards, pedal from venue to venue with all the set, props and costume necessary to perform environmentally sustainable Shakespeare across the globe

Join their all-male troupe in Lyme Regis for a bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ like none other. In usual HandleBards style, expect riotous amounts of energy, a fair old whack of chaos, and a great deal of laughter.

A group of soldiers return from the war to a household in Messina, causing the kindling of new love interests and the re-kindling of old rivalries. The parallel love stories of Beatrice, Benedick, Claudio and Hero become entangled with plotting, frivolity and melodrama in Shakespeare’s famous comedy.

This is an outdoor production, so please bring your own chair or blanket to sit on, a picnic to dig into, and dress for the weather.

Praise for the HandleBards

COMEDY | COUNT ARTHUR STRONG | SATURDAY 28 SEPTEMBER

The BBC Radio 4 and TV legend brings his new show to the Marine  – ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’

“Undeniably brilliant” – The Guardian

As well as being the all-round entertainer we all know and love from the telly, Count Arthur Strong is also a lifelong fan of astronomy, since having been given a microscope, or whatever it is they use, for Christmas when he was a small precocious baby. In fact, it’s said the first word he spoke was ‘Uranus’. In this, his brand-new show, he seamlessly combines the very best showbiz entertainment you’ll currently find, in the world, possibly? as he wrestles with some of the big questions that other all-round entertainers shy away from. Such as:

Are we alone in the universe?
Is there life on Mars bars?
2lbs of potatoes.
Packet of ginger nuts.
Don’t lose this shopping list.

“Pure genius and pure tribute to the golden age of vaudeville” –  Evening Standard

A message from the Count:

‘Do not miss this not to be missed type of thing! If I wasn’t in the show I’d definitely be in the audience watching myself intently. Laughing and learning in equal measure. Thoroughly happy to pay the admission fee and definitely not asking for a refund. Also not rustling sweet wrappers and fiddling with my sodding telephone with a gormless expression on my face. See you there!’
