To thank our Theatre Friends for their support across the past year, at the Marine we are all putting up the tree, polishing the champagne flutes and getting on our most glamorous outfits for the most talked about shindig of yuletide – the Theatre Friends’ Christmas Ball.
The event is open to others too, but it is complemintary for all Theatre Friends. In the spirit of Christmas generosity, the Marine encourages you to join as a Theatre Friend, in order to come to the party for free!
Don your best frock, dust off your dancing shoes and prepare yourself for a night of festive fun and frolics. All party guests will receive a complementary glass of fizz.
Jazz pianist Philip Clouts will be playing as guests arrive on our grand piano.
We are pleased to announce the Ding Dong Daddios as our headline band for the evening. Here are 5 sharply dressed chaps that will treat your ears and your evening to a blend of Jump Jive and Swing. They are a big hit on the Swing Dancing and Lindy Hop scene, so get practicing your moves.
Tickets are free for Theatre Friends, and all friends should email firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for their ticket, after which their names will be added to our guest list.

This unusual and atmospheric performance piece will draw you into a captivating world inhabited by characters such as the salt-ridden sailor, the lonely lighthouse keeper and the mischievous mermaid. Devised by Gail McGarva, traditional wooden boat builder from Lyme Regis, and inspired by her love of the sea, the piece features beautiful original songs with haunting harmonies along with fragments of narrative, performed by the Sea Chorus, a group of local singers brought together especially for this project. Alongside the performance and outside the theatre, audience members can visit the Story Boat, a miniature maritime memories museum created by Gail from an upturned Dorset fishing boat from 1923.
Writer & director: Gail McGarva
Musical arrangements & direction:Penny Dunscombe
11 September – 17 December The Story Boat Project
The Story Boat project is the creation of a miniature maritime memories museum from an upturned boat in which people’s memories will be recorded and preserved.

The Story Boat will be in residence outside the Marine Theatre from September to December.
The oral history collection will be archived in Lyme Regis Museum
