"SUMMER IS A CUMIN IN..." THANKS TO PECORAMA | ||||||||||

"They're stunning, perfect!" said the Marine Theatre's Artistic Director, Margie Barbour, when these beautiful hanging baskets were lifted out of the van. Pecorama, the popular visitor attraction at Beer, has shown their generosity by creating the summery hanging baskets for the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis. Using the colours of blue and yellow, the colours of the theatre's logo, the 6 large hanging baskets are now hanging gaily from the balcony of the Marine Theatre.
This is one of the first business sponsorships the Marine Theatre has received and is an Arts and Business venture; Strike a Match. This Arts & Business programme matches first time business sponsorship of arts and cultural projects pound for pound. Later this summer on July 5th Pecorama is sponsoring a popular children’s show by Professor H20 called "Watery Notes.” All the 200 older children from St Michaels' and Mrs Ethelstone's Primary Schools in Lyme Regis will be coming to the theatre to see the show, which is then going to be performed again in the evening for family audiences. The Head Gardener, Teresa Cook, chose flowers that are particularly suitable, squeezing in an abundance of fuchsias, begonias, bidens, helichysum and petunias. PECORAMA is home to the famous PECO Model Railway Exhibition and the Beer Heights Light Railway and is also known for its Millennium Garden. Theresa is in change of these beautiful gardens that attract thousands of visitors, not just in the summer months. Completed in July 2000, a series of celestially themed garden ‘rooms’ are linked by scented walkways, special water features and stunning stonework. The individual garden names of Sun, Moon, Rainbow and Roof Garden reflect the nature and colour of the flowers, shrubs and trees to be found in each. Like the Marine Theatre Pecorama has a rich programme of entertainments for their young visitors during the summer months, with clowns and storytellers offering lively events to the young visitors. The Shows take place at the Top Spot Garden Theatre and people wanting more information can visit http://www.peco-uk.com/Pecorama/Pecorama.htm or call 01297 21542. . LimeHouse Lizzy, a Tribute to Thin Lizzy will be playing at the Marine Theatre on Saturday 9 June and will be the first visitors to enjoy seeing these attractive additions to the theatre's frontage. Tickets for their show at 8.30 pm are available from Lyme TIC at 01297 442138. Oliver Letwin commented on them when he visited the theatre for the launch of Volunteer week on Saturday 2 June. On Thursday 7 and Friday 8 June "Siege", a newly devised play by the Lyme Youth Theatre will be performed at 7.30. Tickets from the theatre door on the night. The play is based on the company’s response to the historical siege of Lyme Regis and more recent events when people felt trapped within their communities. |
