ST GEORGE CELEBRATIONS AT THE MARINE THEATRE 16.04.07 | ||||||||||
|
The white paint with red lettering of the Marine Theatre sets the tone for the patriotic St George’s day celebration on Sunday 22 April at 7pm. Flags will be flying, bunting will be festooned about the balcony and “Land of Hope and Glory” will be sung to the rafters as the audience enjoy being English. Tickets are available from the Lyme Tourist Information Centre at £7.00 for adults and £5.00 for under 16s. Telephone 01297 442138 for availability and to book.
The evening will feature Lyme’s Town band playing all the usual favourites: “Jerusalem”, “There’ll always be an England” and pieces from the Lyme Regis Town band’s new recording. This CD, which will be available shortly, performed under the baton of John Powell, is the second in the history of the band. Between the medley of numbers by the band there will readings and songs by the stars of Lyme’s local theatre groups as part of this special celebration.
Organized by Marine Theatre Trustee Nick Lawrence, whose “Mikado” with Lyme Operatic society will be at the theatre from 15th to 19th May, this promises to be an evening of fun for all the family. Come along and join in the celebrations on the day before St. George’s day and Shakespeare’s birthday. |
