MARINE THEATRE PART OF LIFEBOAT WEEK 17.07.07 | ||||||||||
|
The Marine Theatre Lyme Regis is throwing itself into the fun of Lifeboat week, with a family Quiz, their regular Summer Evening of Song , “Putting on the Style”; fun for all the family music evening with Paul Leegan and the Legends, “Don’t let the Pigeon Drive the Bus” a theatre show for children and a wonderful evening of local talent with Wednesday on Saturday, an acoustic café.
Lyme Regis is transformed during the Lifeboat week; the town is full of holiday makers who have come determined to have a good time and the theatre wants to play its part. The family quiz turned people away last year so don’t be late for the 7.00 pm start on Tuesday 24 July, it’s great fun with prizes and surprises and tickets are only £2.00 for adults and £1 for under 16s. .
Wednesday 25 July the Summer Evening of Music at 8.00 pm offers great songs from the great shows sung by the cream of local talent. Paul Leegan and the Legends will get the theatre rocking on Friday 27 July at 8.30, doors opening at 7.45. Jacky Clifford from Dorchester rang to book tickets immediately he saw Paul Leegan was playing here. “We saw him at the jazz club in Croydon”, he enthused, “it was really authentic, a great evening. Skiffle and rock and roll, he’s such a good musician and he makes great contact with the audience.”
This is a really good event for all the family, and there’s more family fun on Saturday 28 July at 2.30 pm with the Big Wooden Horse production of “Don’t let the Pigeon Drive the Bus”; a lively show for children from 3 years up and is full of fun feathers laughter and excitement. The friendly bus driver leaves with one simple instruction “Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus” but the pigeon is very clever and whines, bribes, and even sings a song (that everyone can join in with), to get his own way. But will the audience let him drive???
That evening the theatre has more participation with the talented local musicians bringing their instruments and being asked to play in the Acoustic Café of Saturday 28th July. Simon Emmett is well known in Lyme for his melodic playing and he and his friends will fill the theatre with their popular sounds.
So this is a week to remember with something for everyone and its all lots of fun, so never mind the weather, enjoy yourself. |
