|
Carnival week in Lyme Regis is famous for its lantern parade. On Friday 3 August the Marine Theatre will be a hive of creativity as people young and old gather under the skilled hand of Darrell Wakelam to make magnificent lanterns for Saturday 4 August’s parade. Darrell Wakelam is a professional and enthusiastic artist with over fifteen years of leading creative workshop. He is enormously encouraging and enables participants to far exceed their expectations. He works equally well with young people and the more mature participants. He has a reputation as an innovative and highly skilled arts educator, in demand not only for the broad range of techniques he offers but also for the positive ethos which he promotes.
Last year Darrell led a similar class which was enormously popular so make sure you call 01297 442394 to reserve your place, at a cost of £10.00 which covers all materials. The lanterns are made collectively and then paraded, by the lantern makers, through the streets on Saturday night. The theatre keeps the lanterns after the parades as a display so audiences can admire the imaginative work all year round. |
