The Jane Austen celebrations in Lyme Regis this weekend have been noted by the National press; from The Independent to The Daily Express they have included details of  Diane Shervington’s talk and the guided walk by Captain Wentworth, aka Carl Salter, and the host of other activities. People from all over England; from Yorkshire to Kent, have been ringing the Lyme Tourist information centre for more information and bookings.

The main performance of the weekend, Jane Austen, An Elegant Portrayal is being presented on the Saturday night, 10 November  at 7.30 pm tickets £9.00 from Lyme TIC 01297 42138. When it was performed at Jane Austen House, Chawton, they wrote. “Our audience was delighted by the performance; which was moving and realistic, bringing Jane’s character to life”

This performance by the Phoenix Theatre Company brings to life our well loved and prolific writer. Those of us who love her books can now discover more of the writer herself. The performance includes readings from her letters and some dramatized extracts from her best known novels.
