EDWARD FOX AND AN EVENING WITH ANTHONY TROLLOPE 13/03/07 | ||||||||||
|
On Saturday 24 March at 8.00 one of our best loved actors takes on the mantle of one of our favourite writers in an intimate one man show. Edward Fox provides a dramatic insight into Trollope’s life, portraying the great novelist through extracts from his well known works. Among the characters that Edward Fox brings to life are The Warden, Dr Grantly, The Bishop and Mrs Proudie, and that famous hypocrite, Mr Slope.
Anthony Trollope novels portray a well observed ironic and human picture of Victorian life. Nearly 150 years on they will astonish us with their insight into human behaviour that we still recognize today. After the show there will be an informal gathering of TheatreFriends to meet Edward Fox in the bar
By coincidence one of the Artistic Director’s friends, Steve Lambell, is Stage Managing this show for Edward Fox, and he said “I really enjoy listening to Edward Fox’s marvellous voice bringing Anthony Trollope to life, and hearing the audience laughing at the way he does it. The show is immensely popular where ever we go; from Scarborough to Surrey, it’s a great hit. It’s been a pleasure to work with him,” he added, “Edward is a charming man and clearly passionate about his Trollope.” Edward Fox trained at RADA, and has followed a long and successful career in theatre, films and television. Best-known amongst his films are The Go-Between, The Day of the Jackal, A Bridge too Far, Gandhi, The Dresser, and The Shooting Party. Television includes Edward and Mrs Simpson (for which he won the 1978 BAFTA Award for Best Actor), Quartermaine’s Terms (he appeared in the original stage version at the Queen's Theatre), and a Dance to the Music of Time. His long list of theatre credits includes Eliot's The Family Reunion, and his highly acclaimed stage appearance in 1997 as Harold Macmillan, in Hugh Whitemore's A Letter of Resignation. Tickets are available from the Lyme Tourist Information Centre, 01297 442138 at £13.50 and at £15.00 on the door.
