AUSTEN'S CLASSIC NOVEL BROUGHT TO LIFE ON LYME REGIS STAGE 27.09.08 | ||||||||||
|
The Dorset Corset Theatre Company visits The Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis on Friday 3rd October for a one-night only performance of Jane Austen’s gripping gothic satire ‘Northanger Abbey’. This remarkable adaptation by Helen Davis uses live music (all the cast play musical instruments as part of the show), physical performers and Dorset Corset’s own unique performance style to create a superb and thoroughly enjoyable piece of theatre. Catherine Morland is hopelessly addicted to Mrs Radcliffe's lurid and macabre gothic novel 'The Mysteries of Udolpho'. In Bath she falls for the witty Henry Tilney whose family invite her to the dark and sinister Northanger Abbey. Excited by the prospect, she readily accepts, but is she any safer there? At Northanger Abbey Catherine's over-active imagination causes her two worlds to collide as fantasy gets in the way of reality. Can she separate the two? With some terrific performances by six multi-talented actors, inventive choreography and some finely judged comedy, this evening is sure to be a delightful evening out for Jane Austen fans of all ages. ‘Northanger Abbey’ starts at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £10 (£9 concessions), are available from Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre 01297 442138. Dorset Corset will return to Lyme Regis’ Marine Theatre on Saturday 15th November as part of the Jane Austen Weekend 2008.
